Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ZBee, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the ZBee desktop application and the zbee.app website (together, "ZBee").

The short version

Your financial data stays on your own device. ZBee is a desktop app with no ZBee account and no ZBee server that collects your information. We do not receive, store, sell, or share your holdings, balances, or personal details. The only information we could ever see is what you choose to send us directly (for example, by emailing feedback) and the standard, limited technical logs created when you visit the website or download the app.

1. Information ZBee stores on your device

To do its job, ZBee stores the following locally on your computer, in your per-user application folder (on macOS, ~/Library/Application Support/ZBee/ZBee.db; you can move this location in Settings):

  • investment holdings, positions, and account balances;
  • account names and any nicknames you assign;
  • your profile inputs, such as birth date and Social Security estimate;
  • categories, tax-bucket settings, and display preferences; and
  • authorization tokens for any third-party connection you set up (see §3).

This data never leaves your device except when you direct the app to contact a third-party service (§3). The one connection ZBee makes on its own is an anonymous check to zbee.app for the latest version and basic app settings (§4), which carries none of the information above. Your stored data is not transmitted to us, and we have no access to it. ZBee also writes a local diagnostic log (on macOS, ~/Library/Logs/ZBee.log) that stays on your device.

2. Information we do not collect

  • We do not operate a ZBee account system, and we do not run a server that receives your financial data.
  • The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.

3. Third-party services ZBee connects to (from your device)

When you use certain features, the app communicates directly from your computer with third parties. Your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one:

  • SnapTrade — if you choose to connect accounts, ZBee uses SnapTrade so it can read your holdings. You sign in to your own SnapTrade account; SnapTrade and your brokerage handle that data under their terms. See SnapTrade's privacy policy at snaptrade.com. Authorization tokens are stored locally on your device, not by us.
  • Yahoo Finance — ZBee requests current market prices (e.g., from query1.finance.yahoo.com). These requests include the ticker symbols being priced and, as with any web request, your IP address; they do not include your balances or personal details.

We do not control these services and are not responsible for their practices.

4. The website, downloads, and the app's update check

The zbee.app website is hosted by Cloudflare, and app downloads may be served by GitHub (GitHub Releases). Like virtually all websites and file hosts, these providers automatically record standard technical information when you visit or download — such as your IP address, browser/device type, referring page, and timestamps — for security and operational purposes. This data is processed by those providers under their own privacy policies. If the website uses any basic visitor analytics, it will be limited to aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics.

The ZBee app itself also makes one routine connection to zbee.app: when it launches, it anonymously requests a small file telling it the latest available version and basic app settings. This request includes no financial data, no account, and no identifier created by ZBee — only the standard technical information (such as your IP address and a timestamp) that Cloudflare logs for any web request, as described above. No ZBee analytics or tracking SDK is involved, and the check fails silently when you are offline.

5. If you contact us

If you email us feedback or support requests, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use that information only to respond to you and to improve ZBee, and we do not sell it or use it for marketing.

6. Data retention and deletion

  • On your device: your data persists until you remove it. You can delete it at any time by clearing the database from Settings, deleting the data folder, or uninstalling ZBee.
  • Connections: signing out of SnapTrade in ZBee revokes the stored tokens and clears the synced accounts locally; you can also manage or remove the connection from your SnapTrade account directly.
  • Email: we keep correspondence only as long as needed to address it and for reasonable record-keeping.

7. Security

Because your data lives on your own device, its security depends largely on your device's security — keep your computer and accounts protected. We design ZBee to keep data local and to avoid unnecessary transmission, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

ZBee is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under California's CCPA/CPRA or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information about you. Because ZBee keeps your financial data on your own device and we do not maintain it, most such data is already entirely under your control. For any information you have sent us directly (such as email correspondence) or that our hosting providers process, you may contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under applicable law.

10. International users

ZBee is operated from the United States. If you access the website or contact us from outside the U.S., any limited information described above may be processed in the U.S. or in the countries where our hosting providers operate.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and posting the revised Policy at zbee.app.
